During last Sunday's all-age service, we looked at Exodus 15 - God's people celebrating his goodness on the Eastern side of the sea. We collected some of the many reasons we have to be thankful to God. Once you start counting, we quickly realise the many, many ways that God shows his kindness to us.
Mechanics for Africa Updates : Student of The Month
Usually, the MfA college course lasts two years, but the COVID disruptions since 2020 mean that TEVETA, Zambia’s vocational education authority has deferred the written examinations that would have taken place last December to April this year.
Our star student this month is Malama Mbewe. He is a second-year student in his final extended term.
MfA’s teaching programme had been adjusted at every lockdown, with teaching at holidays and weekends to make sure our students were able to keep up with their studies despite the disruptions, so the announcement that exams were going to be delayed was unwelcome to students and teachers. Students were challenged to apply for extended industrial attachments and he is one of the students who showed initiative went to find his own for internship for the extra months.
Malama Mbewe comes from Zambia’s North-Western province. During the December holiday, instead of going back home, he decided to apply to CN AUTOMOTIVES COMPANY in Ndola. The supervisor at CN reports that Malama Mbewe is hard-working, enthusiastic, and puts his best into whatever he does.
He has been commended for always doing his assigned tasks on time. He is a well-organized, tidy worker and a good team player. Our warmest congratulations go to Malama. MfA and Malama want to thank his UK sponsor for making it possible for him to study with MfA.
Other MfA News
The rescheduling of Term one has not stopped our students from being productive, contributing to the cleanliness of the college, and raising money for fees through piecework.
Due to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, TEVETA delayed the opening of training institutions and moved the date to the 24th of January. Our first-year students were excited and geared. In their new worksuits, they were ready to begin their first term and invest in their future.
