How can we pray for Hong Kong?

In the last few months, many people have come to the UK from Hong Kong because of the changing political situation. It is likely that many more will join them. We’ve been delighted to welcome some people from Hong Kong into our congregation. Ahead of the important anniversary of June 4th, Dr. Annisa Wong- a member of our congregation, also a recent arrival from Hong Kong- has been kind enough to provide some prayers to help us pray for Hong Kong.

We rejoice that Jesus is alive, that he reigns, and that one day he will return to wipe away every tear (Revelation 21:4). In the meantime, we weep at the injustice and pain of our world and plead with God for his Kingdom to come.

As well as the prayers below, Annisa has also provided some helpful background information and history- Please click here to see that.

Pray for the Chinese people and HKers, those who are in a similar situation. We remember the anniversary of the 1989 June 4 massacre at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. We also remember June 12th, 2019, an escalation in the severity of policing tactics against demonstrators, leading the dramatic change and social movement in Hong Kong. Also, we remember the Uyghurs in Xinjiang and people in Tibet, the rapid change of Myanmar internal war, Belarus hijacked and kidnapped action, the life at Gaza strip, and people suffer from violence.

Pray for the HKers, Chinese and people who are in jail, with court case and under wanted, and also their helpless families. They are losing freedom and protection, house arrest, concentration camp, under brainwash. We ask for fair judgments, justice, and righteousness.

Lord, in your mercy, Hear our prayer

Pray for the HKers, Chinese, and people who become diasporas, refugees, away from family and loved ones, facing terror, disappointment, and hopelessness.

Pray for the HKers, Chinese, and people who are traumatized, had bitterness and hatred, hurts and nightmares. Please send faithful and good servants, comforters, advocates, and good neighbors.

Give them peaceful hearts and good discernment in their situation. May those who serve others receive comfort and love.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer

Pray for the church renewal and revival in HK. We pray that churches will stand firm as a whole body of Christ in the oppression of communism and all sorts of anti-Christ acts. Pray for the spiritual awakening and a life worthy of the calling of individual Christians, pastors, chaplains, and prison workers. Pray for awakening, repentance and forgiveness, reconciliation. Please pray as well for awareness and discernment- of lies, evil, and power struggles.

Pray for love, faith, and hope.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer

Pray for the HKers, Chinese, and people who are starting a new life and living. They have the opportunities to hear the Gospel and read your Word, open their heart accept Jesus Christ as their Savior. They have a choice to become a new creation: everything old has passed away, everything has become new; does the will of my Father in heaven, looking forward to entering the kingdom of heaven.

Pray for the work of missionaries, mission agencies, local churches; the sustaining and development of theological training and church growth.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer
